Today, the children enjoyed a very special video message from Mrs McKernan’s brother, Cathal, who works as a First Officer with Jet2. Cathal had just landed in Preveza, Greece, with 230 passengers on board. While the aircraft was being refuelled and luggage prepared for the return journey, he shared a live glimpse of the airport and even gave the children a tour inside the flight deck.
Cathal also showed videos of him taking off and landing the Airbus A321, which the children found incredibly exciting. The class had prepared questions in advance, and Cathal was able to answer many of them while getting ready for departure back to Manchester with another 230 passengers.
One fact that particularly fascinated the children was that the Captain and First Officer are not allowed to eat the same meal during the flight, to reduce the risk of both becoming unwell at the same time.
