Learning about stereotypes in P7
18th Apr 2026
Primary 7 have been exploring the topic of stereotyping as part of their learning this week. They discussed what stereotypes are, how they can be unfair and the impact they can have on people’s thoughts and actions.
The class then linked this learning to bullying, considering how stereotypes can sometimes influence the way people treat others. Through thoughtful discussion, pupils reflected on the importance of kindness, respect and not making assumptions about others.
As part of the lesson, pupils were asked to think about common stereotypes of a bully and represent these ideas through drawings. The class then took part in a vote to choose the image they felt best reflected their shared understanding. Donal’s drawing was selected as the class choice, capturing the key ideas discussed.
Well done to Primary 7 for their mature thinking and engagement with this important topic.
