Mass of Celebration for our friend Seamus

8th May 2025
Together we celebrated our friendship and memories of Seamus through Mass.  Fr. Moore left us with lovely thoughts of brightness, happiness and the humbleness of giving without ever needing thanks.  Together we prayed for Seamus, his family, our school community, the parish and everyone who's heart Seamus touched.

For Our Friend Seamus

Your friendship was a gift treasured by all,

Old, young, big and small.

With kindness in every gesture you made,

And sometimes a frown – a spade was a spade.

In the corridors you walked with a brush in your hand,

A humble man who never knew how we saw him so grand.

Seamus cared for us all like we were his own,

Many a day we couldn’t find him cause he’d just decided to go home.

A character full of mischief and fun,

He’d come into the classroom with a yarn to be spun.

On the path outside he’d walk with a friend by his side,

Many a tear Seamus Beggs dried.

He saw on the pitch a friendship to be saved,

So many hearts he simply engraved.

He played cards, there’s even an upstairs ‘Seamus Beggs’ game,

St. Mary’s without him just isn’t the same.

A cup of tea with Eddie to finish each day,

A friendship so strong even though you’re away.

So many memories of a man we adored,

When Seamus was around no one was bored.

Today we remember you and how life was,

Let’s all now stand and give Seamus our biggest applause.
