In Primary 5, we have been learning about grams and kilograms. We made links in numeracy with our current novel in literacy – Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The pupils carried out a practical investigation into the weights of some of our favourite chocolate bars. We searched the packaging for the weight of the bar and then ordered the bars from lightest to heaviest. We then used our mental maths and problem-solving strategies to answer questions based on the weight of the chocolate.
